Enchanted as a child, Rhiannon grows up hidden, safe from a destiny that could be disastrous to her world. But when an evil sorcerer, seeking to destroy the Power of Two, opens the veiled gate that holds the dragons underground, Rhiannon must emerge. She must find the warrior marked with the dragon's flame, for only he can defeat the evil devouring the land. Laird Dylan is a shadow in his own keep. Branded at birth with a dragon's head mark, he is shackled to a cursed life. Now dragons lay waste to his land. But his duty to stop them is derailed when he meets a woman who is unafraid of his shadowed past--a woman he could love. Magic, spells, dragons, sword fights, steamy romance... What more do you want in a book? You even get that happily-ever-after.

Dylan Connor MacGregor, didn't believe in the old magic of the druids or their religion. His belief was live by the sword, bow and just plain old fighting. Born from darkness and marked with the dragon he thought that he was cursed along with everyone else. He was an honorable man and fair to his people he just couldn't get past the fear of his mark.

While searching in the dark forest for two of his men that had gone missing, he comes to a secluded body of water, surrounded by peace and beauty. Within that water was a vision so beautiful. She had eyes so green and fiery red hair. To him she was a breath of fresh air. Little did he know that they were destined to become soul mates and put an end to the hatred of their clans? All he knew is that she touched his soul just looking at her and he would have her.

As the Rhiannon leaves her home she is thrown into the path of none other than Dylan. From the onset they are drawn to each other. There are some trust issues and accusations along the way but once they bind themselves together and become as one the story and the adventure take off.

The two work together, going into the realm of the dragons, finding the way to unite the clans and bring peace to their people.

Along the way Rhiannon finds out that she has been trained by her mother who is disguised as Dela. Together they cast a protection spell on Dylan's hold.

Dylan in the meantime, with the help of Rhiannon and his brother goes on their quest, only to lose Dylan's brother.

I found this story filled with a wonderful vision of fantasy romance, woven with vivid descriptions of the surrounding location and people that had me right there in the middle of the story amid the action and the romance.

From the interludes of passion to the fantasy realm to the chivalry and honor of men, left me wanting more. The whole time I was wishing that I were right there with Dylan and Rhiannon on their quest for peace. I canna wait to read more from Ms. Lynne!

The Dragon Laird Deborah Y Lynne 9781601549815 Books Reviews

There is nothing new or memorable in this book--no depth to the characters. It went directly into my discard pile. To be fair, I had just finished Rosemary Kirstein's "Steerswoman" series; and there is just no comparison. Otherwise, I might have given it 3 stars.
Rhiannon went to bathe in the forest. No one else dared visit there because of their fear, but Rhiannon found the woods comforting. She had no idea that Dylan was watching her...

This author combines fairies, dragons and magic in this fast-paced tale of an evil sorcerer seeking Rhiannon to get even with her mother and gain the ultimate power. Her hero, Dylan, carries the dragon's mark and is unhappy in life because while he's the Laird, all his people believe he is evil.

Rhiannon is a healer and has been adopted by the MacKay's, as has her brother. Ms. Lynne shows you the depth of Rhiannon's love and loyalty to her brother. She can't stop him from going to war, but she comes along to help protect him. Unfortunately, she becomes a prisoner at the end of the battle.

This ongoing battle reminds me of the Hatfields and McCoys of legend in the USA. They are always fighting and never happy with each other. In this story, it's the MacKays against the MacGregors. They fight over land.

The author adds enough authentic clan history to make the story seem real. The fantasy aspect of it is exciting and interesting and adds depth to the story. Rhiannon's heritage is what makes her a target for the sorcerer, but her Dragon Laird does not intend to give her up. That makes the tension mount up as the story heads towards the conclusion.

I enjoyed this read. The best part is that this is Dragon Spawn Chronicles Book 1, so you know there will be more in the future. I'll be eagerly watching for the next one. I think Robbie (Rhiannon's brother) may be playing a big part in it.

If you like a good fantasy story, this is one for you. Why not get a copy for yourself?

The Dragon Laird takes you to a realm of chilvary and honor, of darkness and sorcery. A rich, colorful fantasy penned expertly under Ms Lynne's hand with a heroine that challenges her champion in more ways than one, this is a story that will leave you anxious for the next in the series!
This is a great adventure wrapped up in a steamy romance. You have all the plot twists, dragon fights, evil sorcerer, curses, and a magical love between two people that will see them through to the end. Ms.Lynne's writing reminds me of Tolken's with her discriptions, setting the scenes. I highly recommand this book for all romance and fantasy readers. 5 stars is not high enough. Looking forward to her next book.
